"Dungeonland" is an adventurous module for the 1st Edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D), specially designed for a group of player characters between levels 9-12. This particular module was also bestowed the code GC1 (Greyhawk Castle 1). Although the adventure takes place in the vicinity of the City of Greyhawk in the Greyhawk setting, it's designed to be adaptable to other settings as well.

What makes "Dungeonland" extraordinarily unique is the strong inspiration it draws from Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland." It even suggests that the demiplane the characters find themselves in is the very same Wonderland that Alice visited. This gives rise to a rich and somewhat surreal setting, bringing a breath of fresh air amidst the typical medieval fantasy environments often seen in D&D modules.

The module takes players on an unforeseen journey through a whimsical and often bizarre world, where the standard rules of logic and reality often stand on their heads. This creates a unique playground where players must quickly adapt to the ever-changing circumstances and challenges. The adventure commences when the characters enter a mysterious portal that leads them to this strange demiplane. Once inside, they will quickly find that this world is filled with both wonders and perils.

In "Dungeonland," players won't only battle a range of strange and whimsical creatures that seem to come straight out of Carroll’s imagination, but also solve puzzles and interact with the quirky inhabitants of this world. For instance, characters may find themselves in conversation with a mad hatter, racing against a hurried white rabbit, or engaging in a dangerous game of croquet with the Queen of Hearts.

The module is beautifully illustrated, with the artistic interpretations of Wonderland adding an extra layer of depth and engagement to the adventure. The visual style not only helps to capture the atmosphere and feel of Carroll's Wonderland but also stimulates the players' and the Dungeon Master's imagination.

Moreover, while "Dungeonland" is a scripted adventure, it also provides ample room for customization. Dungeon Masters are encouraged to put their own spin on the story, and the flexible nature of the Wonderland setting makes it easy to add new elements and adventures.

"Dungeonland" is not only a tribute to a beloved literary work, but it's also an excellent example of how D&D modules can enrich and diversify the player experience. It offers a unique and memorable challenge for both players and Dungeon Masters and is a wonderful addition to any AD&D collection. The adventure awaits in a land where nothing is what it seems and where the only limitation is the boundaries of your own imagination.
